Stinky Kitchen Cloths

This post doesn't really go along with my usually posts, but I tried this trick and I had to share it with everyone!
One of my biggest pet peeves is a stinky kitchen cloth, it just grosses me out!  And all my cloths seem to get stinky with in weeks of buying brand new ones.  I've tried everything, always leaving them open to air dry, washing them with bleach, you name it.  And the cloths would come out smelling fresh, but as soon as I got them wet they would be stinky again!  I got so sick of it all, that I've resorted to just throwing out the cloths when they get stinky and buying new ones!  (which, I know, isn't very cost effective)  So, a couple of months ago, I came across this little trick. (I don't remember where I read it) At the time, I had just bought a whole bunch of new cloths, so I haven't needed to try it until now.

Here is the secret to cleaning stinky cloths!!!!!!

1. Put all the stinky cloths in a pail or cleaning bucket

2. Pour enough vinegar on top to saturate them

3. Let them stand for 10 minutes

4. Throw everything in the bowl into the washing machine, and complete a washing cycle using warm or hot water

And there you have, fresh smelling kitchen cloths for more then just a day!!!

  1. Really? And it works? I will definitely have to try this!! It's my husbands pet peeve about the dutch "doek" (his family uses J-cloths) but it's the same - you throw them away so not very cost effective!
    Thanks for the tip!

  3. Will have to try that, I always end up bleaching my kitchen cloths.
Vinegar is awesome! I use it in my towel load (right in the washer; do not use softener or fryer sheets); it removes whatever soap builds up (especially in face/wash clothes) and makes them fluffy, soft, and whitens them!
